This is the reason I'm beginning to hate myself for ever becoming interested in visual effects, filmmaking, DiF and so on. Films I enjoy are butchered down to the point that even I start disliking them. And I used to enjoy watching the matrix sequels, dammit. Gah!
It's a cannon. With very high resolultions.
Because I reckon my own video counts as cool, I suppose.
Man am I gonna come off as boring when I say "A beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds to Mars. Oh well.
Nicely done. Only thing that annoys me, is how quick the breakdown part is, and that the text describing it is too far away from the center of attention.
Doug Jones doesn't scare me. The bald guy in the background, however..
Also, available to the public, here's a facebook album I've put together with these images. 20+ pictures.
long time coming, but I did my own test shot today. More coming later.
Phantom Menace: I was 13 when it came out. For me, it was Star Wars, to which I was relatively fresh, and it was awesome. A new badguy that looked bad-ass, rocking lightsabers and a space battle. Sure, compared to the OT, it's not much, but I still enjoy it for what it is. It's probably the one that's been playing most in my house. I don't even have to pay attention, but it's a great film to just have playing.
Matrix Reloaded: It may not make sense in the big picture, but reloaded hits the spot. It's got cool characters, great action, a good soundtrack and pretty cool vfx. I like the film. It may not be up to par with the Animatrix and the original, but it's damn cool to look at.
Matrix Reloaded and Phantom Menace. Thaaaat's right.
You know, I was actually gonna watch this, to have some backing when I heard the commentary. After the first 30 seconds or so, I realized I didn't have to.
the particle system will only be used as a displacement map, so all you need is particles gushing and fading to black. Then use the matte as a ...well, matte in AE.
Of course, if you can't use AE at all, I suggest testing out all particle systems and give them a flat refraction shader to emulate the same thing.
Looks fair enough to me.
This depends on your software. I'd go with Particular, since it's easily edited without having to render out the scene to check for errors and the likes.
The oscars were on? Who won what?
The only perfection lacking now is PAL podcast

Sean Bean (Flightplan)
Fight Club.
I usually just download the films anyway, to make sure I don't have to deal with this, but I've 'some' PAL DVD's, sure.
I do, to a certain point. If there's one thing I'm not particularly happy about, it's the second wobble. Mainly because compared to the first one, it's the one that actually wobbles, instead of just distorts.
However, that being said, you could easily stick a better camera in that scene and get the depth feel of it much better. Sure, I'll have to properly set a depth matte for it to be CORRECT, but there's definitely depth to it, and the wobbles look kind of like they're distorted magnetic fields. Or something like that
I added them for instability and depth, but if you think it'd be better without, I'll see what I can come up with for making them a bit more subtle.
