Movies All The Way Down! (I think this may be my favorite of this list....)
I love it.
Actually, since Teague mentioned expanding the podcast outside of movies to cover other similarly geeky interests, maybe Friends In Your Head could work.
Fridge Logic could work, yeah. But is it too TV Tropes-specific? I know that they didn't invent the idea, but that phrase feels distinct to them. It sounds cool for sure, but avoiding trope names is probably a good idea.
Call it anything but Shark Brain. I'm standing my ground on this one.
Sounds fine to me, to be honest. It's just because we're all so used to Down in Front.
I can see the arguments against The Front/Back Row. However, it's still my favorite. It gives an image that's true to what the show is about. The same image, by the way, that Down in Front gave. I'm not a fan of Friends In Your Head. It has nothing to do with movies. It just sounds like a podcast with people talking about random stuff. The Intermission might work, but again, it doesn't have a lot to do with movies. Sounds more like a podcast about theater. Maybe avoid inside references from the show altogether? No one will get them who isn't already a fan.
The hosts should get their favorites together and put up a poll.
I like The Front Row the most of any of the previous suggestions. It captures the spirit of the show without any puns or references. Maybe The Back Row? Gives the impression of people giving commentary from the back of the theater, like backseat drivers.
THE BACK ROW. I think it works.
Uh, is it just me, or does this look fucking awesome?
You could talk about how overrated Primer is.
It was alright. Much better pacing than last week's. I thought that the Cold War subtext was a little heavy-handed at times, but overall it worked.
That's true. At the end of the day, though, all that matters is if you're good at your job or not (or at least good enough to churn out some shitty summer blockbuster).
Chaz is tweeting news from his account, and seeing his icon pop up always gives me chills.
Not like, "who's your favorite," or that kind of thing, but just the concept in general. Whenever the term gets brought up on DiF, or anywhere else on the internet, for that matter, it's almost always negative. It's like an easy blow that one can lobby against a film. I remember it getting brought up on the commentary for Terminator Salvation, for example. Someone mentioned that directors who start in music videos have a tendency to fail as feature directors because all they have to do when directing music videos is throw a bunch of random shit on screen and pretend it makes sense. And for some of these directors, there's no denying it.
I mean, David Fincher? What a hack. Spike Jonze? Get the fuck outta here. Mark Romanek? Don't even bother.
It bugs me when people make this argument, because it falls apart at the slightest provocation. Sure, the stereotypical music video is a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing, but not if it's made by a good director. Good music videos don't have that problem. And those directors end up making good movies. Sure, Bay and McG and all the rest of those shitty directors came from music videos, but they were still shitty directors while they were making them. Fincher and all the rest are good directors. It doesn't matter that they came from the same place as Bay, because they actually know what they're doing.
It just seems like people conveniently forget Fincher and Jonze and Romanek and Gondry and all those guys when they talk shit about "music video directors." We can just say "bad directors," because I don't think that the whole "music video" thing has much bearing on the situation. Does McG bring a music video sensibility to Terminator Salvation? Sure, you could argue that. But Fincher brings a music video sensibility to his movies, too. It's just his sensibility instead, and that's the real difference.
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. I just wanted to put this idea out there.
Is it used to cover up blemishes?

GOOD NEWS! His last review wasn't The Host. He wrote a review of Terrence Malick's latest, To The Wonder, before he passed. The review itself can't be read without an account, but I'm content with the knowledge that this is the film he went out on.
So, that was a pretty awesome episode, huh? Aside from a few details, it's pretty much identical to how my bar mitzvah went down.
Still don't get the argument against video games as art. Whenever people say that, it strikes me as so dismissive and ignorant.
Yeah, I'd be up for that.
Yeah, that could be fun.
Damn. That's one hell of a story. It's a great doc. You build tension really effectively. This certainly seems like the kind of thing that could be significantly expanded. Well done.

Great, now I'm crying.
He's the very definition of "inspirational." He lost his voice and his freaking jaw to cancer, and didn't slow down his workflow for even a second. Hell, like Trey said, he announced his semi-retirement yesterday. He was a force to be reckoned with for sure.
Love him or hate him, there's no denying that he was a powerful, unparalleled presence in the film world. I for one loved him, and he was a huge inspiration to me. He'll be sorely missed.
If they go for a more satirical approach, this could work. The stupidity of the premise is gonna be hard to overcome, though.
