I use Adobe Premiere Pro (used to use Final Cut Pro) for all my editing.
Lightworks is a pro NLE that has a free version that might be worth checking out and there's also Da Vinci Resolve Lite.

I got a BB-8.
In person with an awkward smile!
I see Blade Runner is so great you had to list it twice.
I'm intrigued by your listing TDK as a favorite. Not because I think you're wrong, just because so many people here (myself included) seem to prefer The Prestige for Nolan.
That's what I get for rearranging stuff, can't even remember what is supposed to be there now!
I picked TDK, partly because of being a Batman fan and also the nostalgic element of where I was in my life at that time. Even out of the three Nolan Batman films, I'd probably say Begins is the better film.
Without making a big list of every film I have ever seen and comparing & contrasting between them all, picking my list is basically impossible. So I basically just skimmed through a few existing Top __ lists, looked at my blu-ray shelves and just thought of what movies would maybe count as my favourites and what could also be considered to the 'The Best' of what I've seen. Not an easy task, but hey...I've got something at least.
I'm probably gonna disagree with these as soon as they're posted, but for this single moment in time - here's my Top 20 favourites:

19. The Lego Movie
20. Gremlins
...and my 20 Best.
1. Schindler's List
2. 12 Angry Men
3. Citizen Kane

My personal fave: Is there a God and why? If any thread could have gone completely to hell it would have been this one, but the conversation remained civil if at times heated throughout, and eventually devolved into dirty limericks.
I forgot about that one! Definitely a great choice.
I dunno about you, but I sometimes like to read through old threads, so I thought it could be a fun idea to revisit a few and come up with a 'Greatest Hits' of the forum. So here's my proposal: you post some links to threads that you believe are the best of the best - along with a brief reason why and if we get enough submissions, we can have some sort of voting system to determine a top (arbitrary number) definitive list of The Best of Us.
To start things off, I've put together a list of 10 threads I think would be suited. Note, I wouldn't say these are my Top 10 - but they are certainly 10 I would deem worthy of inclusion. Don't worry about submitting a ton of links yourself, one or two is fine - I just think if I'm starting the ball rolling, I may as well overcompensate.
Announcement: Goodnight, Goodnight!
This one is obvious really. Massive lovefest from us all that really warms up the fuzzies.
A thread that spawned an Intermission episode and a classic example of a discussion that anywhere else would resort to 'FUCK YOU YOU SUCKKKKK!!!!'
DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!
C'mon, it's the fucking Road Trip! A bunch of us from all around the world set out to make an impossible thing and we bloody well did it.
"Extended Edition" Community Podcast
Okay, this may be a bit shameless - but c'mon. Bunch of forumers decide to start a podcast together? Too right!
Another great example of a discussion that would turn sour anywhere else.
Teague tells us how to make things. We fucking make things.
Not only do we get a nice handy guide from Teague on the basics of editing workflows, we have an insanely insightful post from Eddie. I also may be a little biased as editing is kinda my thing.

4chan vs. Teague. I've put this here more for it as a moment in FIYH history.
The love and support that comes through in this thread is nothing short of extraordinary.
Zarban's lightsaber battle project
We might take a long time to get it done, but damn do we make kids dreams come true!
Big Ol' Antique Thong
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Started this pretty much straight after Mirror's Edge. I wanted to play this back when it was released, but my old graphics card couldn't really handle it. Really fun game, although a bit repetitive in parts. About 3/4's of the way through, I got bored with a lot of the side-missions and pretty much focused on the story. I'm not much of a '100% completionist' with games anyway, so I'm not too fussed over skipping a bit of content.
My main gripe with this game was the ending, it was extremely underwhelming from both from a story and gameplay perspective. From looking around online, it seems I'm not the only one either.
All in all, I had a blast with this game. If you like the Batman Arkham games, it is basically the same thing in a Lord of the Rings skin.
Just shot him a message on Twitter!
Time Slips
Whilst not solely my creation, I thought I'd whack it up here seeing as I was quite a bit involved. I was primarily the editor on this, but as with any small project - I got roped in to all sorts. You can see me as a dodgy Adam Ant type character in one scene and also hear me trying to do my best GLaDOS ripoff.
Oh YES!!!
Looking at what I posted looks a lot more negative than I actually feel, aha. I still don't know if I liked it or hated it, but don't get me wrong - I thought there were lots of great stuff in there.
Still not the best game I've played with an end credits song called 'Still Alive' though .
Mirror's Edge
I decided to give this one a try seeing as I've heard good things and it's supposed to be a pretty short game. Good, I fancied something quick I could do in a couple of days.
sigh...
This game was way too frustrating and even after completing it, I cant' tell if I liked it or hated it. I had to go to Youtube to check out some videos just to make sure I was trying to do the right thing - and sure enough, I was! The game was just being like 'Hey, you're not gonna make that jump you've been trying for 20 minutes!'. You know the feeling you get in most games when you finally figure something out and progress to the next bit? Yeah, none of that here, all I could think was 'about fucking time!'.
I have yet to post anything about it outside of photos, but it was a good year. Different vibe this year. Felt more manageable.
How'd your panel go?
It seemed like a different vibe to me just from reading the latest updates and the like, a bit more low-key than usual. I found this article earlier today which could explain some of it.
...wait, did I say reading updates? Must have been a slip of the tongue, we were totally there. Totally...
We totally went to Comic-Con, guys!
Poor 'Kill the Moon'.
I suspect that won't be the last you'll hear of them.
103 - TV Shows That Became Movies
This is my all time favourite episode, solely for the last 10 minutes or so.
Well fucking done, tres bien (did I say that right?)! I can't wait to see the Making Of for this one, that was bloody stellar work.
Christ, that was fantastic. I'm starting to wish I joined you over there!
Hottest day of the fucking year and the train decides to put the heating on.
Wtf is your problem Northern Rail?!
DUUUUUUUDE. Portal 2 is FANTASTIC.
After finishing it just now, I'm very inclined to agree with you. At first it seemed a bit just 'more of the same', which I was totally down with - and then it got even better. I was actually a bit hesitant about Stephen Merchant being in this, don't get me wrong - I bloody well love him, but I just wan't sure if he'd fit in. Within seconds of his introduction though, I was completely sold.
Ah, Portal 2. You are bloody good. I should probably get around to giving this co-op mode a go.
This sounds absolutely glorious.
I've not heard anything about that, I thought they were cool with it?
