Re: Zarban's lightsaber battle project
More Norwegian Dark Lord, less FCPX.

Don't rise to him Dave, he's method acting.
Now that he mentions it, it does look pretty sweet...
Whoa, where did they get all those clips of my "skateboarding across the Great American Southwest" vacation from two years ago?
My thighs are still like steel beams.
I've put together a pass without any of the inserts, trying to focus on improving the pace and breaking up some of the lingering shots to keep it interesting.
Give me notes. Happy to pass over the .prproj file, no additional inserts means it's easy to re-link to correct media.
Have I mentioned had good the actors are in this? Because, personally, I know people complain about working with children, but I really like their performances. Niken especially, gives a great death scene.
Can anyone fabricate a Oscar looking thing for them?
Dave, I like the pacing of the last cut, but the cuts of Straya walking don't feel connected to me, if that makes sense. I wish I had a better term for it, but that's how it looks to me.
Please, someone professional save me from my amateur hour.
With you on that FP, I'll revise it this evening.
(edit) Streamlined opening.
Zarban, does the crawl have to be so verbose? At around a minute in length, it's a quarter of the picture's run time.

Ha! Good point! I love what Owen wrote, but yeah, we could trim it down. I think we can just remove the whole second paragraph and trim the other two slightly.
SHOWDOWN ON DANTAH
Terror reigns throughout the galaxy. Members of the Jedi Order are being hunted down by evil Sith Lord DARTH VOYNE and his young apprentice DARTH NIKEN.
Straya, a Jedi Padawan has been sent to investigate a smuggler base on the remote planet of Dantah, unaware that her nemesis is on her trail....
I agree about the extended opening seeming a little disconnected. It feels odd to cut from Straya to Straya to Straya. Also, I'd still like to see a different cut of the line where her delivery is smoother.

Noted, I'll update this evening and repost
Crawl updated - brought it down by 13". The rest is kept faithful to the original, but it can also be sped up if needed.
It's not in sync with the original theme anymore, however, but I'm not even sure Zarban was going to use it anyway (copyright and stuff). Maybe Trey can lend you the Pink Five theme?
If it's legal (I'm not sure if it is), and depending on the time-frame, I would *love* to transcribe and sequence the theme. That way we could time it correctly.
Considering it's a fan project, non-profit and all, I'm gonna assume it's fine.
Hi Tom. Is there an update on your filming? I'd like to cut in your bits for timing, and I think that's what we're waiting on to hand over a cut for VFX
Yeah, don't hold your breath.
As it turns out, I've sold said camera, and am now waiting for a Panasonic GH4, an adapter to fit a Nikon lens, and a nikon lens.
Either somebody else do it, or you'll have to wait a good week or so
Terribly sorry, raw video just gave me a massive headache after filming Whoish part 3, and I decided on set that it wasn't worth all the trouble, and thus made the move to Panasonic instead.
IT WASN'T ME THIS TIME
Right, we need a new Dark Lord.
Captain Canada, you've the voice, and the camera. Go.
I actually nominate Zarban. Keep the cast in the family!
I was going to do the voice of Straya's master, but yeah, alright. I can do that instead. I should be able to do it this weekend.
EDIT: Unless somebody else WANTS to do it.

If it can wait until tonight, I'll do the dark master. How many lines we talkin?
Sudden Voyne!
In my capacity as 2nd assistant to the DP's PA, I can tell you it's about 4 lines.

I think we're looking at the ESB-Emperor head and shoulders hologram, except you'll be coming from a wrist projector, and smallish to maybe just life-size. Also shoot your hooded self from 180 deg behind and your back-right quadrant for the reverse angles.
Check the rough cut for the eye lines, or: 1st line you'll be looking maybe 45 degrees up at Niken, the final lines you're on a level with Straya. Or do Holograms not have eyelines? Maybe shadow out your eyes to avoid the question?
Hah, I expected to have the camera a bit longer and record today, but the guy who bought it had no time to waste, so, yeah.
Sorry about that!
