Topic: EuroDIF

<Update>
We'll be in Paris from the 5th of October to the 10th, Edinburgh from the 25th to the 28th, and London from the 30th to the 6th.
</Update>

Hey all,

The wife and I are flying in to Heathrow on the 5th of October, and back out again on the 6th of November. What are your thoughts on a EuroDiF bender at some point during those dates?

We're going to be doing the touristy thing and travelling around, but it looks like we've got free time at the start of November to get positively shit-faced on English (or possibly French) cider.

Any takers?

Re: EuroDIF

There's a ferry going from Newcastle(I believe) to Bergen, Norway. From there, it's only two hours by plane to land 500 meters from my house. Just sayin'.

Re: EuroDIF

I heartily approve of this, so long as pictures are taken.

Re: EuroDIF

Conversely Vidina, in just 500 meters from your house you could board a plane, nap for two hours, hop on a Norwegian ferry, then train it from Newcastle to London.

In all honesty, we would love to spend serious time in Norway and Sweden, but there's not the annual leave available this year (we only get 4 weeks a year). Maybe you can host the next one? smile

Re: EuroDIF

Well, an excuse to head to London for a couple of days isn't bad, but you'll be missing out on some serious nature smile

Re: EuroDIF

As an update we're still in the process of selecting hotels, but do have a confirmed reservation in The Strand. We'll be there between the 30th of October and 6th of November, prior to that we'll be kicking around Branscombe, Edinburgh, Cork, Dublin, Venice, Florence, Rome, Nice, and Paris.

Re: EuroDIF

Because its sort of lovely, quiet, and I have family in Dorset we can visit on the way through to London.

Re: EuroDIF

Good morning from Paris. We'll be in the UK from the 25th, starting in Edinburgh and heading south-ish. Anyone fancy a pint?

Re: EuroDIF

I reckon you're rubbish, mate. Although I'd have fancied a pint in Paris, but that would have made for an expensive pint with the whole train trip.

Re: EuroDIF

I live in Bloomsbury (central London) if you're in the area. Check out the Prince Charles Cinema too - lots of retro trilogies, etc.

not long to go now...

Not to mention Paris is full of tourists, I hear the Parisians hate that.

We're staying near Trafalgar Square so you're pretty damn close. I'd planned on catching Skyfall while we're in town, it seemed only right to see a Bond film when in London.

I work in Shepherd's Bush, so can also make central London venues fairly easily

Yeah, but you might get better treatment if you either speak German (for then, you can't be English or American), or you use a broad Scottish accent (for Scotland and France are historic allies against the English).

No promises, though; it's a while since I've been in Paris, so local surliness may have been re-allocated.

Re: EuroDIF

So France is behind us, and we're currently dealing with Italian railways. Chaps, I'm in dire need of a shandy.

Jimmy, we'll be stopping in Glasgow for a night on our way through, but won't be able to have a late one as we need to kick on in the wee hours. You fancy a brief trip up?
