My sample for Charli: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q20xrpq4fa1fb … li_BDA.wav

I just played it pretty straight, if you want something a little more out there let me know and I can give it a go.

Very well done, BDA. You've got such a great voice for this kind of work.

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

Ok, so I'm waiting an audition from Dorkman (if he's still interested) for Austin, Eddie for Charli, and fireproof78 and bullet3 for Gustav.

We still need the roles of Xiao Pei, Antoinette and Amaya filled.

Are you still in need of a woman's voice, aural? My girlfriend is claiming "shyness," but I can do some arm-twisting if need be.

Started recording the narration last night. This is gonna be fun big_smile

Alright, narration recorded.

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

Since I'm still waiting on Eddie, fireproof78, bullet3 and possibly Dorkman for auditions, I'm gonna ask those who already have an assigned role when they might be able to do their voice work.

So that's:

Feng - Teague
Boy - Rob
Jimmy - Saniss
Caucasian brawler - Eddie
Sailor - Rob

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

Think I've gotta drop out of the running here, sorry. Between work, school, and post-production on my own project, I just won't have the time that this project deserves.

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

I have a few hours tomorrow and Friday, and I had two native german language teachers throughout high school. I think I could manage Gustav's part.

I can go whenever, pretty much.

I defer to him as Gustav. I can fill in if another role is needed, but I hardly could give the authenticity that Drew could here big_smile

God loves you!

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

Okay, so that puts us at:

Austin - Dorkman, Tomahawk
Feng - Teague
Charli - BDA, Eddie
Gustav - drewjmore
Boy - Rob
Antoinette - ?
Amaya - ?
Jimmy - Saniss
Caucasian brawler - Eddie
Sailor - Rob
Xiao Pei - ?

That means I'll need auditions from Dorkman and Eddie.

fireproof78, can you fake a Chinese accent and/or do monster growls and roars? Xiao Pei is still unclaimed.

And still no women yet.

RECORDING NOTES:
For those who will be able to provide me with something, I recommend doing all your voice work in one long take, even if you screw up and have to repeat lines. I find that way your voice sounds consistent throughout the story. If you're able to trim out the stuff you don't want in the recording, great. Also, don't be afraid of providing multiple takes on the same line, if you want to try different things.

As for format, I think a 44100 Hz 320 kbps mp3 will do fine. If you WANT to go higher, go for it, but I think as long as you shoot for maximum bitrate/quality on the mp3, the fidelity will be there.

If it's all the same to Dorkman, I can do it over the course of the weekend.

I will do some research and practice. My wife has a good ear for accents so she might be able to help coach me.

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

Just a heads-up to let you know I'm working on it, but it'll need some practicing. I might send you something sometime next week, not as a definitive thing, but to see what you think about it. And I really think I'll borrow some equipment for the final recording. smile

You're telling me. I'm trying to to nag anyone about this, as I'm sure everyone's busy and whatnot. Not gonna lie, I'm getting a titch discouraged.

I could knock out another character tonight, beginning about 3 hours from me typing this.

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

Thanks for the offer, drew. I'd like to still keep the variety in the cast if possible for now, but if it becomes clear some people have bowed out you'll be the first person I'll come to.

I admit, I was actually waiting for something to pop up in the thread before I recorded. I'll lay my lines down presently and get it to you tomorrow, aural. Please accept this emoticon as a sign of good faith:  smile

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I've been unclear on what the status of this thing has been since the beginning. I wasn't aware we had formally started. I still haven't seen a script or anything.

So don't get discouraged, update!

There's a script. I've read it.

Re: Reading/narration collaboration

I linked to the story a couple times before. There's no script; you'll just have to find your character's lines in the story and highlight them.

Here's the link again: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6rdispo5ac5br … 20Mohr.pdf

And no, you're right Teague, we haven't officially started yet. I was hoping those people who were locked into roles could do their recordings and then I'd have to hound everybody else for their auditions. At this point, I might just start picking the people who've actually responded and auditioned over those who haven't.

My hope was to have enough community involvement to have each character played by a community member. We might not be able to do that, given the response so far. We're also missing two female characters.
