Thank you for that.
I'll agree that Randy Orton's kind of a stretch.
FCW: Tom Hardy is a horrific choice. As is Johnny Depp. Both good actors, Hardy couldn't pull it off, and Depp probably would pull it off too damn good
Power Rangers was great for kids growing up in the 90s. I still enjoyed JQ, and the CG-matrix-esque version of it, too.
According to imdb;
"Names thrown out who were considered to play the Eleventh Doctor include James Nesbitt, Robert Carlyle, Bill Nighy (who expressed interest), David Walliams (who also expressed interest and came extremely close to being cast, but conflicts with Little Britain USA forced him to turn it down), Harry Lloyd, David Morrissey, Paterson Joseph, David Knijnenburg, Daniel Radcliffe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Simm, Russell Tovey, Sean Pertwee, Russell Crowe and Randy Orton. "
So, you see, Bill Nighy has been a candidate.
Goddammit yes.

So...the nerd portion of my brain, which admittedly is nearly all of it, is currently playing through an episode of Doctor Who with Grint as the Doctor and Watson as the companion...
I like it. I like it a lot.
Thank you brain.
Yeah, no, that's a bit too much.
But also, Simon Pegg. Or Stephen Fry. ALthough mostly the latter, since Pegg's already been a sub-villain.
It's hard to see Cloud Atlas as a good movie, based on the trailer. I have no idea what's going on most of the time, what kind of genre it is, and who it's about.
But then again, I thought Avengers would suck.
Anyone else excited for this?
Saniss: Bill Nighy's kind of not an option, though, as he was a prominent extra in "Vincent and the Doctor". Now, I know Freema Ageyman was in the season 2 finale before coming on board as martha, and that Karen Gillan played a soothsayer in "The Fires of Pompeii", but those are companions, and I know I didn't even recognize Gillan anyway.
BDA: I know, right?
For some strange reason, the ending of this says "To be continued". Why on earth does it do that, when it's obviously not being continued?
Well, one reason would be that we did shoot a good 3 more minutes that takes place right after the ending that didn't make it into the cut.
It could also be that said 3 minutes weren't up to par.
It could also be the fact that I lost all the files in a hard drive crash.
But mostly, it could just be because we hoped it'd take off a bit more, and spark some actual interest for a sequel.
Obviously, it's not a short film in need of a sequel, though. But we have been discussing going back to the idea of a series of shorts both leading up to this, and showing an aftermath. Will it be done? Perhaps. Retconning isn't our strong suite, and I personally don't know if I even want to. We had fun, and it would be equally so, but the ultimate point of the short was just the regeneration vfx test anyway.
Although, if any of you creative minds in here have any ideas that could be pulled off using a cast/crew consisting of up to 8 people, let me know, and we could have some fun together. Maybe even a collaborative process altogether.
So, let's discuss our candidates for the 12th Doctor, shall we?
I'd LOVE to see Rupert Grint do it.
First off, he's great in the HP series, and I recently watched "Into the White", which is a great little movie, where Grint plays a Scouse. Brilliant job of it, too.
Also, our Beloved Doctor would finally be ginger.
Of course, some would say he's too young for the part, but so was Matt Smith, at (then) 26. He's doing a great role thus far, I'm just not into the storyline he's been thrown into. Moffat's getting out of hand these days, and cluttering too damn much. IMHO, anyway.
The optical drive doesn't bother me that much. What bothers me the most about the new iMac is the lack of a microphone port. I know it's got a microphone built-in, but I've got a Sennheiser microphone and an Ibanez guitar I'd like to plug in there without having to purchase an audio card.
...Which I guess I'll have to either way to get good audio, but still. Wasn't always like that.
I also don't like that I can only afford a 21,5", meaning I won't be able to upgrade the RAM later on. I really can't afford shelling out the extra money for a 27".
But with my needs, a 21,5" will do. At least for now
Also, the deal with FCPX? I don't know. I haven't used it, so I really can't tell. I only know what I've read and heard about it. But when it comes down to things, I only ever really used an NLE to edit. Cutting, trimming and adding audio. I do all my color correction inside AE. Since I'm usually using premiere, I don't even have to export the video. I might have to with FCPX, but I'll work it out.
All in all, I'm happy with my decision to switch to mac again. I haven't owned one for 2 years, and back then it was leopard. I'll do just fine with Mountain Lion
LEGO, eh?
My friend's hot sister made this a while back.

I'm pretty sure the Nvidia Kepler graphics line has CUDA, which enables hardware accelerated rendering adn such.
In which case, the iMac should fit all your amateur-based editing needs perfectly.
However, if you're a professional, I'm with most people here. The new iMac has its limits. the 21,5" model doesn't have user-accesible RAM, meaning that you're stuck with whatever you order it with. Also, the lack of an optical drive can, for some, be a killer. I've got libraries of stock footage and stock art on dvd's, which I won't be able to use if I go for an iMac, unless I buy the over-expensive super drive alongside.
I'm also kinda with Dorkman here, there just doesn't seem to be any viable reason to continue using macs until Apple gets their fingers out of whatever asshole they've been plugging them lately.
Adobe's available on both Windows and Mac, FCPX doesn't look like it'll be as good as FCP ever was, OS X 10.8 is too much of an iOS-like system, and each and every mac is now 'as tiny as possible', making huge compromises in hardware perfomance.
All that being said though, I'll come across as a two-timing, good for nothing piece of shit with this, but I recently sold my relatively high-end PC to switch to mac. Why on earth, after that rant would that make sense?
Well, I never liked windows much, with 7 being the best by far, and now 8 ruining the entire thing. I've also had hard drives crash on me several times this year, losing about 6000 photographs, and about 800GB worth of video files from shorts and other projects I've worked on. These crashes are also directly relatable to Windows, and while it's my own damn fault for not taking backups, I'm still sick of struggling with windows.
The only reason I bought the PC in the first place, was my tendence to play games every now and then, and the fact that I couldn't afford a Mac in that specific time period.
I'll be ordering a new iMac as soon as they're available. I'll even probably get a copy of FCPX. I'm not planning to go pro with my video work anyway, and I'm sure it'll fulfil my needs as far as editing goes. That and some Adobe apps.
I hate it. It's like the Tru-motion/motionflow technology found in various HDTV sets. It looks completely and utterly horrid.
Haha. Btw, Our recent move means we get BBC HD. I now get to watch Doctor Who when it's on
Sky TV in the UK put together this pretty genius trailer for their 007 channel that starts next month-
Is it irony that the commercial for an HD-channel is only available in 360p?
vidina wrote:I'm out of it for a little while and everyone gets delusions of Zarban?
Well, I certainly didn't see that coming.
//Sarcasm
I leave for TWO damn days, and now everybody's Zarban? WTF is going on in here!
...Wait, am I Zarban too?
Ohcrap.
I don't know why I didn't post this yet, it's been out for a year now.
Sure, it was posted in the cool vids thread, but that's boring.
In any case, here's my 'fanfilm' revolving the DW universe, a short that really only started as a vfx test, but escalated too much for its own good, and that won't be getting a sequel. It was all made up on the spot, and I can't write a dw script that makes sense anyway.
Here you go.
It's available in glorious 720p, too.
Wait, what did you say? You liked that? You're asking me for a tutorial, are you? I wasn't aware this was TF.n, but okay, then, here you are:
Yes, and there's the fact that Ethan Hunt is suddenly a goddamn superhero.
I'm often related to as IMDb. These things happen.
..No, that's not actually relevant.
While it wasn't bad, I thought the climax had a too quick fix. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here, with next week's episode, though.
