You can actually make a cube unsolvable that way, it's a good way to fuck with someone who likes to solve cubes. If you feel like being a jerk.

Not a lot of good "big balloon project" photos come across my desk. (Sturgeon's Law. All "big balloon project" photos come across my desk, for the same reason this one did. tongue Got a lot of folks on the internet sending me the balloon photos they come across. Most aren't great.)

But, anyway. This is one of them. The 5" rounds on the joins are a sloppy choice, but ya gotta cover your joins somehow. (I tend to go with small apple twists with regular 260s.) That said, this is a technically impressive balloon that I would be proud to show people. A lot of work that looks simple but is subtly impossible to pull off. For instance, the lines are amazing, and the sheer consistency of the vertical weave over that long a spread is really impressive. This took a helluva lot of focus to complete, and wasn't an easy gig; way harder than most of the "big balloon projects" you see. Props heretoforth delivered. Totally dropped the ball on the Sharpie work, after so much time spent on the balloon, but at least it wasn't an all-out Sharpie cheat like you see so much of-

-oh, did we get too esoteric? It occurs to me that most people on this forum don't know that I was a high-octane professional balloon twister for a long time. Open the book of my life to the middle and all that.

Anyway, good one. Get the fuck out of here with the t-rex balloon picture you're thinking of posting.  cool

Some stuff referenced in this episode, first up PorridgeGun posted this link to the fantastic Empire article in another thread, and we refer to it a lot.

Also, I referred to some funny observation about Arnold that I couldn't quite place, turns out it's a Bill Burr bit. Watch it, it's a minute long and hilarious.

Song requests, based on a made-up list of my favorite artists, aiming for "very good, interperable songs:"

Gone / Ben Folds
The Commander Thinks Aloud / John Roderick, or The Long Winters
Help the Aged / Pulp
Leeds United / Amanda Palmer
Say Yes / Elliott Smith
That's Your Horoscope For Today / Weird Al
Right Where It Belongs / Nine Inch Nails
Purple Toupee / They Might Be Giants
Killer Queen / Queen
Wouldn't It Be Nice / The Beach Boys
Anarchy / KMFDM
One Night In Bangkok / Murray Head
My Name Is Jonas / Weezer
Grow For Me / Alan Menken
Median / Half Acre Day (!)
Holiday / The Birthday Massacre
Too Much Time On My Hands / Styx
New York State Of Mind / Billy Joel
Park Life / Blur
Rock 'n Roll Band / Boston
Every You Every Me / Placebo
Starlight / Muse
The End + Dead / My Chemical Romance
Just Like Heaven / The Cure
Tush / ZZ Top
Weird Science / Oingo Boingo

That one's on me, actually. The four-hour episodes (Abyss, Titanic, Watchmen, LOTR's, and this) all need special treatment to get WAYDM-ified. I'll do that one now.

I just had one, it was a shot of someone else's car from my window, and I just kept horizontal-flipping it to make it seem like I had an exorbitant two exterior shots. tongue

Though I suppose I could run out with my Flip and get a few shots of various black cars from different angles and stuff. Lemme know.

Oh darn, she couldn't hear the episode where Teague got fall-down drunk and proposed to The Princess Bride.

Shucks.

But seriously, I'll look into it.  neutral
