Re: Zarban's lightsaber battle project
The level of escalation on this project is amazing, wish I could be there.
You're using a fucking jib!? Is day 3 going to be helicopter shots?

There was brief consideration of a speeder bike chase....
The stuntman union put a quick end to those discussions after the nettle incident.
Damn, I wish I were able to have joined you guys on set - it looks like it was a lot of fun. Any idea when I'll be getting the footage to start playing around with? I've got a couple of things coming up, so I'd just like to schedule my time accordingly.
EDIT: I've just noticed there are videos as well as images. The clip of Teague showing the kids how to twirl their sabers made me grin seeing as I've tried teaching people to do the same thing myself.

Aw man that looks awesome! I'm super excited to see this.
And, ugh, I knew I should have kept the tunic length a bit longer. Tricky fitting something for a person you've never met. For the record, I kept the hem super long so you can always let it out and gain another 3 inches of length at the bottom for future uses.
Looking amazing, everyone!
Good job to everyone, especially to your actors, Zarban. Very big troopers on this one
Looks like a blast, and that you all are having fun.
So, did Teague shoot a fight of his own while he was there?

You hit the nail on the head, Fireproof. Teague and Jim asked about the temperament of the kids, and I said they would have a lot of patience and take direction well, which they did, but I did not anticipate a grueling 10+ hour day for them. I'm afraid I sometimes insisted on moving on instead of exploring another variation in order to keep things moving. I had less patience than the kids did.
Teague and Jim worked out a couple of lightsaber exchanges on video, as I recall. Maybe that will be an extra.
(The kids really want a blooper real, but honestly there were hardly any bloopers. Just some flubbed lines, robes caught on branches, and one lightsaber bonk.)

Well, when you want to get stuff done, it's easy to feel the need to move on.
Also, I wish any of my fan film projects went half as smoothly. If only i still had those VHS tapes
Still, very exciting and can't wait to see more!

Isn't that shit illegal !

There IS the bit of the director performing Emperor Palpatine's force-lightning face, and there's a whole other film we don't deserve in the alternate line readings.
I can upload the 21 gigs of plates as soon as I get back to LA, probably tomorrow.
I look forward to the angry email from our hosting provider.
Is there a better way to get these 21 gigs to a guy in Australia and a guy in fuckinenglandorsomeplace?
Would it be easier if you send out low-quality mp4's or something and then you can relink them with the full quality files later on?
That's not a bad idea. I do believe we'll do that.
I honestly don't think it matters. I believe we have unlimited bandwidth.
I was just unleashing my inner dad on you guys.
I'm kind of excited. Teague, what about a Mega Account to drop / share files? FTP works of course

So, this is fun: these lightsabers weren't rotoscoped. I was able to pull mattes on the pink tape they were wrapped with. Not perfect, and it doesn't solve the "they have to be different colors" problem, but I'm amused that it worked.
I left the internet for a few days and this thing is already shot?
I need to film my parts now.

FASTER! MORE INTENSE!

I'm thrilled to see this! If it means that it's even easier to do the effects, I'll be thrilleder! You are a magician!
I was doing some fiddling around in AE and thought I'd make an opening crawl for this. Then when I went to do it, I realised I had completely forgotten how to make a good one. Awh well, here it is anyhow.
