Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Dave, you are a deity among mere mortals.

...and I'll upload whereever you want. I think my stuff is 'missing' because in the past I've just put the files in my dropbox (at least 4 times now  wink   ). Here's one like that, 4 hours til it syncs. It's WMV encoded, but I can re-encode at your whim. I have 3 more besides that one.

Don't thank me yet, this could be an unwatchable mess. I just want the project closed (lanced?), like everyone else, so we can move on with the next thing.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Yeah, good luck. I tried doing this. I really did. I managed to get it cut together so that all dialogue actually worked, and all the punchlines. Then I waited for more footage to fill holes and gaps, and then my harddrive failed. Now, while all the footage files were recovered, it's clustered, and the premiere project is since lost.

Good luck. This project really IS cursed.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Want to get technical? Atheism refers to theism, as in believing in higher powers or, a deity. Curses have nothing to do with God. It's more like a Deus Ex Machina. And we believe in those.

In the context of a fictionalised story, yes.

Going through the footage. You guys are awesome.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Quick update:

Jim - I can't import your footage into Premiere, and can't open it in VLC either. Could you re-export and re-upload?

Zarban - I'm having trouble with some of your clips (Derek's too). If I give you the file names that are causing grief, could you re-render?

In progress. I'm just dumping and looking at takes - ignore timing etc.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Dave: How is it sequence missing? The stuff I put together had Teague's lines in there.

In fact, here's proof:

Hmmm. I could reupload, but I didn't do any processing in the first place...

Thanks Drew, Zarban it looks like a codec issue on my end - will keep looking for a solution.

According to Faldor, I am the king of codecs. So anything you're having trouble with, send it my way and I'll see what I can do with it.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Re-coding Zarban's stuff in Quicktime Pro has done the trick. Jim's file is still unreadable by humans. I'm guessing I can just insert clips from Space Jam though.

iJim is a Mac user, so probably a pro-res file that will require a mac solution.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Quick update in between work and looking after a small child. There's still a lot more to add, and once complete assume a whole mess of clean up, leveling, grading, replacements, etc. Sequence missing indicates footage is unavailable.

I am becoming increasingly intimidated by how good you buggers are.

PC's can read Pro-Res fine, it's just encoding thats a ball ache and dealing with the fools who sent you the files  lol

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

I'm done for the evening and noticing a bit of variation between the older script I have, and what it looks like Teague sent through. Could you IM me your script bits so I can make sure everything's in sequence, and nobody misses out?

Regarding spoilers - I think at this stage it's more important to show what's happening, and how things are progressing, than worry about spoiling the jokes. As such please ignore status updates until this is done. smile

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Tonight's after-work / baby / dinner update. The end of sequencing is in sight, looking at the script there's probably 3 - 4 minutes of run-time to go.

Although there's still some footage to come in (the sequence missing cards) which will require that everything's re-timed, I can still begin to tighten things up, and start working on the rather exciting range of audio mixes we've recorded - Audition is going to get a work out.

Following that I'll look at how quickly I can get mattes in place to put in some background replacements - if that happens is likely to come down to how much time I get over the weekends. That figure is going to require some negotiation with my better half, and possibly some begging. It won't be pretty.

Finally it needs a grade, some titles, and some musical bits. When finished, we can move on to our next project.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

I'll try to film my shit for ya either today or on the weekend.

I also hesitantly volunteer to help with the audio mix, if that wasn't something you were looking forward to. It'll just be a lot of creative noise removal and leveling, for the most part.

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Hey Teague, not to derail, but what do you use for noise removal? I'm having to do a lot of that on a project I'm doing, and I'm curious if there's any particular software you would call out as must use. I've mainly been using the EQ filters in Premiere to scrub out certain frequencies, and a bit of the noise removal in Audacity (although I try to avoid it, it tends to really crush the original clip).

Re: DIF Community Project: DIF Road Trip!

Audition, mostly. Between selecting noise profiles and some wacky shit with spectral analysis, you can get a long way.
